How to recognise a real Seiko.

Dial and seconds hand

1 · Dial
A Seiko automatic movement moves the seconds hand forward in small steps, 6 per second. If it jumps from one second to the next, it is a quartz movement: the watch is a copy. Also look at the markings, which should be sharp and well aligned.

2 · Caseback
Through the transparent caseback, you can see the Seiko automatic movement (4R36 on our Seiko 5 Sports). The serial number is engraved around the edge: its first digit shows the year of manufacture and the second the month. This is the number we film before every shipment.

3 · Clasp
The Seiko logo is engraved into the steel of the deployant clasp, crisp and well centred. A blurred or crooked engraving, or a logo that rubs off, are signs of a copy.

Yes. They are new Seiko watches, with their serial number engraved on the caseback. Before shipping, we send you a video of your watch with this number visible.
Seiwatches is an independent retailer, not affiliated with Seiko.
Why are they cheaper than in shops?
We buy from a supplier, outside the official distribution network in France, and we sell only online, with no physical shop.
That is also why the warranty is provided by Seiwatches, not by the Seiko network.
Is this dropshipping?
No. Our Seiko 5 Sports watches are in stock with us, in France. We film your watch with its serial number, then pack and ship it ourselves. That is why it arrives in 2 to 4 working days, and why we can show it to you on a video call before you buy.
Our GMT models are also in stock with us, in France. The other watches in the shop are ordered for you from our supplier: we receive them, check them and film them with their serial number, then ship them ourselves from France. Each watch's page shows whether it is in stock or ordered for you.
How long does delivery take?
Allow 2 to 4 working days for a Seiko 5 Sports in stock, and 9 to 15 working days for a GMT in stock or a watch ordered for you. The exact delivery time is shown on each watch. We also ship worldwide for €14.90, with 2 to 8 extra working days depending on the country. You receive a tracking number by e-mail as soon as your order ships, and you can track your order at any time on the Track my order page. You can reach us by direct message throughout the journey.
What does the 3-year Seiwatches warranty cover?
It covers functional defects of the movement and case for 3 years from delivery. It does not cover breakage, knocks or normal wear of the strap.
It is in addition to the 2-year legal guarantee of conformity. The full terms are on our Warranty page.
What if I don't like it?
You have 14 days from delivery to change your mind, without giving a reason. Return the watch in its original condition: we refund you, including the original shipping costs.

Does an automatic watch gain or lose time?
A little, yes: that is the nature of a mechanical movement. In real-world use, owners generally measure between +5 and +20 seconds per day. If you are looking for absolute precision, a quartz watch will suit you better.
Is payment secure?
Payment is made on Stripe's secure page: by card (with 3D Secure authentication), Apple Pay, Google Pay, or in 3 interest-free instalments with Klarna, subject to approval by Klarna. We will never ask you to pay by bank transfer, PayPal Friends and Family or Western Union.
Are the reviews verified?
Yes. The 'Verified purchase' badge means the reviewer really did buy their watch from Seiwatches: we check this before publishing their review, and we do not remove any negative reviews.
